Full weekend. Full hearts.

We have been loving Boston and are SO enjoying the Boston weather as we hear it’s pretty brutal back in Nashville. Victoria’s second surgery will be on July 16th, which happens to be my late father’s (Victoria’s namesake’s) birthday! Pretty cool, right?

The doctors were able to remove 95% of Victoria’s tumor during the first surgery. Now that we know her tongue function is restoring itself on the right side (which was a 50/50 chance), the doctors can go back in and try to resect the rest. Part of what’s left of the tumor is up against the nerve on the left side of Victoria’s tongue, so the doctors didn’t want to risk her not being able to swallow if she didn’t get the function back on the right side. The remainder of the tumor is in a tricky spot, so if they can’t reach it endoscopically through her nose, Victoria’s neurosurgeon will make a small incision in the back of her skull and try to access it that way.

We meet with Victoria’s radiation oncologist this coming Tuesday, so we should have a better idea on the timing for when she’ll begin proton therapy after the second surgery.

The wonderful Shearer family came up to visit us this past weekend. Their daughter, Stella, is one of Victoria’s best friends and, as it turns out, Travis and John could very well be twins.🤣

We had wonderful dinners at Mistral, Blue Ribbon sushi, and Contessa, went to another Red Sox game in which Jarren Duran hit a home run (while wearing V’s cancer bracelet😉), shopped, took a guided tour of the city, and ended the weekend with 8th row seats at the Justin Timberlake concert (thanks to the Shearers!)

When you’re stuck somewhere for a while, it’s SO nice to see familiar faces and we can’t thank the Shearers enough for taking time out of their incredibly busy schedules to come and visit! It meant the world to our entire family.

We may try to go somewhere nearby for a few days at the end of the week to have a change of scenery (and small family vacation) before Travis and Wren head back to Nashville.

Thank you for all of your prayers, texts, treats, letters, and packages. We feel all the love in Boston❤️.
