Post-Op day 2
Victoria is in a lot of pain today, but we know the first 48 hours are always the hardest. The majority of her pain/discomfort is in her nose since it’s packed so tightly. She had quite a large hole in the back of her nose from the resection, so they used allograft tissue and her own nasoseptal flap to fill that space back in.
Everyone on Victoria’s team is currently working together to try and decide between 3 different paths they could take which would give her the best quality of life without leaving too much room for recurrence.
She has had some water and a bite of applesauce, which is a great sign that her swallowing function was unharmed. She did have a bad reaction to one of the medications she was given for nausea earlier, but they immediately gave her Benadryl and she’s been out like a light ever since. The PICU staff at MGH is unbelievable and we are so grateful to have them keeping Victoria calm and comfortable.
Hopefully, we will have a better sense of timing for everything over the next couple of days.
Much love,
Paige, Travis, Victoria, and Wren
The entire Nielson clan sends love and prayers to Victoria and the entire family. We know to expect the best for Victoria and the team speeding her recovery. Stay Victoria strong!
You were in my thoughts all day. I hope each day comes with less pain. Prayers are lifted for continured recovery.
This has to be so unbelievably difficult for you as her loving parents. ☹️ I’m not taking anything away from Victoria’s fight or diminishing the hardship this is on her, but as a parent myself I know the anguish of seeing your child suffer and being able to do so little to help. 😞 My heart goes out to you. 💔
Go Victoria!!!
That is awesome news! She will come thru this with flying colors. Praying for her complete and speedy recovery! ❤️❤️
